Released in 2007, Windows Vista is the newest version of Microsoft's popular operating system. Whether you've recently upgraded or been using it since its release, this four-level course will help you make the most of Windows Vista.

Course highlights include a discussion of the Security Center, full coverage of the new Sidebar, coverage of Windows Defender, and an explanation of how to configure a wired and wireless network.

Detailed Course Outline

Windows XP Basics To begin, we will look at the elements of Windows XP and learn how to interact with it, how to perform basic customizations (such as changing the date and time), and how to log off and shut down.

Working With Windows Participants will learn about the layout of an application window; how to manage files and folders; and how to use the Recycle Bin, My Computer, and Windows Explorer.

Using Applications And Getting Help This section will explore Windows help features and how to add and remove programs.

Windows XP Home vs. Windows XP Professional This section will take a look at the two versions of Windows XP to help users decide which is right for them.

Advanced Tools Participants will learn how to customize the taskbar and Quick Launch bar, how to set up an Internet connection, about Windows Firewall settings, and how to use Windows Accessories.

The Control Panel This section will explore each category of the Control Panel in depth.

Multimedia Features Participants will learn how to manage pictures, video, and music, and how to make a CD.

Maintaining, Optimizing, And Troubleshooting Participants will learn how to defragment their hard disk, repair hard disk errors, add and remove programs and Windows components, use the Task Manager, use the Device Manager, add new hardware, update Windows, use MSCONFIG, back up their computer, and use System Restore.

Networking This section will teach participants how to set up and troubleshoot basic, advanced, and wireless networks.

Remote Desktop And Remote Assistance These two utilities will be covered fully in this section.

Windows Applications Participants will learn how to use Windows Media Player, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Messenger.
